ILLOJUAN vs THEGREFG: UFC COACH speaks | Evening of the Year VI with Mario Alonso

Mario Alonso · Head Coach UFC

Juan didn't even know how to run. A month and a half later he fights in front of millions. Mario Alonso hardly gives interviews. He owns AFC Villalba, a former professional boxer, jiu-jitsu black belt and one of the few UFC head coaches in Spain — Chad Sosa's trainer, with a 15-1 record. And he is the one behind Illojuan on his way to the evening of the year. In this conversation he tells how he prepares someone who came from scratch, why he gives TheGrefg as the favorite, what it feels like when your fighter's father dies in the middle of a weight cut on the way to the UFC, and why he trains Mario Casas almost daily. Without a filter, like the real trade behind it. What is told: — What is it to be a UFC head coach and why in Spain you have a hand — Illojuan's express preparation for Ibai's evening from June 1 — Illojuan vs TheGrefg: why the favorite starts being the rival — The weight cut that no one sees: up to nine kilos in one day — Dana White's note and the Spanish milestone in the UFC — Mario Casas boxing for real and why he has no rival — Competing goals between coach and athlete: the role of the ego — The evening of the year and why professionals did not support it at first — Weight cutting as a reason to quit a career
